Our Kids
Our Kids’ was founded in 2001 by Dr Chris Ingall, with the aim of improving the health services for children in the Northern Rivers area.
Our Kids achieves this through raising awareness and vital funds to purchase lifesaving medical equipment for the paediatric wards at Lismore Base Hospital and surrounding hospitals in the Northern Rivers, including Grafton and Tweed Hospitals.
Our Kids raise vital funds through partners, donor, local events and projects. With the funds raised, Our Kids help sick kids in many ways, including purchasing paediatric equipment for our local hospitals, from toys to humidicribs. This equipment and items enable kids to receive specialist medical care closer to home and make their stay in the hospital a little more ‘lovelier’, and many children and newborns are now able to stay locally when needing medical care.
More than 50,000 children each year from Ballina to Urbenville and Grafton, Lismore through to the Tweed are seen in our local hospitals.
Our Kids also issues annual Community Grants for families or organisations that care for children living with special needs, and scholarships for our midwifery and paediatric team to further increase their skills.
The success of Our Kids comes from the commitment and generosity of the Northern Rivers Community which has enabled Our Kids to help build better health services for children in the Northern Rivers.
Our Kids is also a major stakeholder with Our House: a purpose built 20-unit motel-style accommodation for patients and their families receiving medical treatment in Lismore.
Since 2001, Our Kids has raised funds to purchase more than $2.5 million worth of equipment for our hospitals, which has helped our kids stay local when needing medical treatment. Every dollar is used wisely and with care.
