Ripley Valley QPS is a subdivision and roadworks upgrade and creation for the provision of a new police station in Ripley.

The site is adjacent to Ripley Road and requires Brownfields alteration to the existing Signalised Intersection at Ripley Road and Fitzgibbon Road to create a new 4-way Signalised intersection with widening and additional lanes to Ripley Road.

Project Scope

  • 30,000m3 Bulk Earthworks in Rock
  • Trunk Sewer and Trunk Stormwater Infrastructure
  • Demolition and widening of Ripley Road
  • Installation of additional lighting to Ripley Road
  • Full augmentation to the intersection of Ripley Road and Fitzgibbon Road to change it from a 3-way signalised intersection to a 4-way intersection with no road closures.
Key Construction Elements

  • Much of the site was hard rock in deep cut and required larger machinery and breakers to get through the rock
  • Staging of signalised intersection works was paramount of the previous intersection arrangement remained live for the duration of the project.
  • The augmentation also moved lane alignments, thus affecting loops and other physical and electrical infrastructure required to keep the intersection functioning.
Project Outcomes and Milestones

  • Intersection completed and commissioned in July 2024 in time for the commencement of the construction of the new Queensland Police Service building.
