SEE Fleet delivers complete zero-hour rebuild of Caterpillar 24M Grader
24 June 2026
A Caterpillar 24M grader has been given a second life thanks to the expertise and dedication of the SEE Fleet team, who recently completed a full zero-hour rebuild in-house.
What began as an ageing machine was stripped back to its bare frame before being meticulously rebuilt from the ground up. The result is a fully refurbished asset featuring a full set of rebuilt components — effectively returning the machine to service as a reliable, productive asset.
A GROUND-UP TRANSFORMATION
Working with trusted partners Ryan Conroy Mechanical (RCM), Westrac and Complete Parts and Equipment, the SEE Fleet team completed an overhaul of the machine, carefully disassembling, inspecting, rebuilding and recommissioning every part of this asset.
The project involved extensive mechanical works, electrical system upgrades, engine and component rebuilds, testing and final commissioning. The team transformed an ageing asset into a machine ready for many more years of reliable service.
MORE THAN FLEET MAINTENANCE
While the rebuild itself is an impressive achievement, it also highlights the depth of capability within SEE Fleet.
Beyond fleet asset management and maintenance, the team delivers a broad range of specialised services across SEE Group, including engineering support, major repairs, component rebuilds, fabrication and complete machine overhauls. By maintaining these capabilities in-house, SEE Group can maximise asset life, reduce downtime and create long-term value across its operations.
As an integral part of SEE Group, SEE Fleet provides the expertise, control and responsiveness needed to support projects from start to finish. This approach enables SEE Group to deliver optimal outcomes for clients while maintaining greater control over quality, cost and project delivery.
THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE PROJECT
Projects of this scale require more than technical expertise; they rely on collaboration across the entire business.
This rebuild brought together a multi-skilled team of mechanical engineers, electrical specialists, diesel fitters and apprentices, supported by our office support and financial teams.
From diagnosing complex issues to rebuilding and commissioning the machine, every stage relied on the knowledge, experience and teamwork across SEE Fleet.
BUILDING SKILLS FOR THE FUTURE
The project also provided a valuable development opportunity for SEE Fleet’s apprentices.
Working alongside experienced tradespeople and specialists, apprentices gained hands-on exposure to every phase of the rebuild process, developing practical skills that can’t be learned in a classroom alone.
It’s this variety of work that makes SEE Fleet a unique environment for career development. Team members are exposed to a diverse range of projects, equipment and challenges, helping build the next generation of highly skilled industry professionals.
Each year, SEE Group recruits undergraduate engineers who gain hands-on experience across major projects, supported by experienced mentors and exposure to a wide range of disciplines. Intakes open in June each year and more information can be found on our Graduate Development Program page.
ANOTHER SEE SOLUTION
For SEE Fleet, the Caterpillar 24M grader is more than a refurbished machine. It’s a demonstration of technical capability, teamwork and innovation. More importantly, it’s a reflection of the talented people whose expertise continues to support projects across SEE Group.
SEE Fleet. Another SEE Solution.
