Revitalisation

• High amount of public interaction – The site is located in a busy, highly accessible beachfront area, with regular interaction from pedestrians, beachgoers, local businesses and visitors.
• Sensitive environmental considerations – Works were carried out in a coastal environment, requiring careful management of sand, erosion, waterway impacts and general disturbance to the surrounding beach area.
• Access constraints – The project had limited space for site storage, material laydown, heavy vehicle access and haulage, making planning and coordination critical.
• High-profile project with significant public interface – As a prominent community project, there was a strong need to manage public expectations, address concerns and maintain a positive site presence throughout the works.

• Public safety and clear site separation – SEE managed public interaction through secure fencing, clear signage, controlled access points and staged work areas to safely separate construction activities from public spaces.
• Environmental controls and careful work methods – SEE implemented erosion and sediment controls, managed sand movement, monitored site conditions and planned works around the sensitive coastal setting.
• Detailed staging and logistics planning – Limited site space was managed through careful programming, coordinated deliveries, controlled haulage movements and efficient use of available storage areas.
• Consistent communication and stakeholder coordination – SEE maintained a strong focus on communication, site presentation and collaboration with project stakeholders to help manage community concerns and expectations.

To date, a key milestone has been achieved with the completion of 550 foundation piles for the seawall structure. Works are continuing across multiple fronts, including embankment preparation, seawall terrace construction and installation of underground services.

The project will deliver a revitalised foreshore precinct that enhances coastal protection while providing a high-quality, accessible public space for the community. Upon completion, the upgraded foreshore will support long-term environmental resilience and contribute to the continued growth of Mooloolaba as a premier coastal destination.
