Regular Passenger Transport STAGE 2B WORKS

Demolition of existing apron pavements and construction of the new Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) high-strength concrete slab pavements (2,500 square metres).

Project Scope

  • Demolition of existing dilapidated flexible apron pavements.
  • Earthworks and subgrade improvement to areas of new pavement construction.
  • Stormwater works, including ACO drains, flame trap construction and leanmix encased reinforced concrete pipes in water-charged ground.
  • Installation of new gross pollutant trap in water-charged ground including PFAS water management protocols.
  • Preparation of clean sand subgrades.
  • Supply and place fine crushed rock base layers.
  • Supply and place cement-treated crushed rock.
  • Supply and place asphalt pavement wearing courses.
  • Installation of new and modification of existing airfield ground lighting systems.
  • Supply and place high-strength concrete aircraft pavement (PCC).

Innovations and Value

  • On-site infiltration basins used for dewatering, eliminating the requirements for large volumes of ground water to be retained on-site and treated for PFAS contamination, offering large cost savings to the client.
  • Pre-construction subgrade testing to accelerate resolution on known subgrade treatments required. This mitigated potential on-site delays during construction.
