Delivering a safer, more efficient transport corridor that improves connectivity, supports the future growth of the Tweed region, and provides lasting benefits for the community—all while minimising disruption and maintaining safe access throughout construction.

SEE Civil, in partnership with Tweed Shire Council, is delivering the Widening Tweed Coast Road Project (Sections 5 and 6) between Chinderah and Cudgen. The project is a major transport infrastructure upgrade that will widen the existing two-lane road to four lanes, supporting the long-term growth, connectivity and future transport needs of the Tweed region as part of the broader Tweed Road Development Strategy.

Project Scope

  • Locating & relocating underground services – water, power & telecommunications
  • Vegetation management – tree clearing to facilitate approved construction footprint
  • Installing safety fencing/signage
  • Ground stabilisation works
  • Constructing new pavements
  • Upgrading intersections
  • Improving drainage infrastructure
  • New safety treatments – medians & barriers
  • Improved facilities – cyclists and pedestrians
  • Final surfacing & line marking
Key Construction Elements

  • Early works are currently underway and include the relocation of underground utilities, vegetation management, installation of safety fencing and signage, and ground stabilisation activities to prepare the corridor for major construction. Once complete, the project will progress to the construction phase, which includes road widening, new pavement construction, intersection upgrades, drainage improvements, installation of safety barriers and medians, and enhanced facilities for pedestrians and cyclists, followed by final surfacing and line marking.
