SEE Civil delivers safer, more efficient Mount Lindesay Highway upgrade
PROJECT NEWS
6 May 2026
SEE Civil is proud to have delivered the civil infrastructure works for the now completed Mount Lindesay Highway upgrade through Jimboomba, reducing congestion, improving travel times and supporting the region’s continued population growth.
The upgrade, delivered between Johanna Street and South Street, has transformed a key section of the highway from two lanes to four, improving safety, capacity and connectivity for one of Queensland’s fastest-growing regions.
Supporting a growing corridor
Mount Lindesay Highway is a critical transport route for Southeast Queensland, carrying tens of thousands of vehicles each day and serving as an important freight corridor.
Through this project, SEE Civil has delivered a range of upgrades designed to meet increasing demand and improve the overall road user experience, including:
- Duplication of approximately 1.5km of highway from two to four lanes
- Construction of a new southbound bridge over the disused rail corridor
- Upgrades to key intersections at Johanna Street, Tamborine Street and South Street
- Improved access via Brisbane Street service road
- New and upgraded shared pedestrian and cycling paths, including an underpass
- These works collectively enhance safety, traffic flow and accessibility for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians alike.
Delivering safer journeys for the community
The project forms part of the Queensland Government’s broader 10-year plan to upgrade the Mount Lindesay Highway, aimed at improving safety and efficiency across the corridor.
Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King highlighted the importance of the upgrade, noting:
“For people in Jimboomba accessing local businesses or travellers using the Mount Lindesay Highway, the addition of two lanes through this section of town will mean a safer and more efficient journey.”
Similarly, Queensland’s Transport and Main Roads Minister, Brent Mickelberg, emphasised the long-term benefits for the region:
“With safer intersections, improved traffic flow and better connections for people walking and cycling, locals can now see and feel the difference this investment has made.
“This upgrade is just another way we’re delivering on our plan for Queensland’s future, by delivering the roads and infrastructure needed for our growing population.”
SEE Civil’s role in delivery
SEE Civil played a key role in bringing this project to life, delivering high-quality civil construction works that align with the project’s objectives of improved safety, efficiency and long-term resilience.
Working in a live traffic environment and within a growing community, the team prioritised safety, stakeholder coordination and construction efficiency to minimise disruption while maintaining progress.
The result is a modernised section of highway infrastructure that supports both local communities and the broader freight network.
Building infrastructure that connects communities
This project reflects SEE Civil’s ongoing commitment to delivering critical infrastructure that supports regional growth and improves everyday journeys for Australians.
With the Mount Lindesay Highway upgrade now complete, local residents, businesses and road users are already benefiting from safer, smoother and more reliable travel through Jimboomba — a result SEE Civil, part of SEE Group, is proud to have helped deliver.
